When it comes to podcasting, we use thousands of dollars worth of equipment here at TPE Network. Many people don’t have thousands or even hundreds of dollars to spend on equipment and want to podcast for fun. If that’s the situation you find yourself in, then Blog Talk Radio could be the answer you’ve been looking for. With a computer and a telephone, you can create your podcast without the need to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on high end electronics.
If you have consulted with me at any time, then you know that I do not recommend services like Blog Talk Radio for the serious podcaster. It is my opinion that the audio quality is below what I believe a podcast should sound like if you want to come across as professional. What I have learned over the past several months is that I am in the minority. For every person that thinks Blog Talk Radio is not sufficient for podcasting, there are 10, 50, or even 100 people who don’t care.
Last week I went to my brothers house for dinner and he had AM radio on. Between the static and the humming, I couldn’t tell what they were saying. My brother has broadband internet and could easily find high quality sports shows online but it’s just on that important to him. When I pressed him on the issue of listening to terrible audio quality, he told me, “I guess I’m used to it”. Many people echo this same belief.
Instead of trying to convince people to buy expensive equipment, I’ll let them come to me when, or if, they desire to step up their quality. For now I’m going to steer people, who are not sure about podcasting, over to the link below and let them decide for themselves.
